New flood map
on Cowskin Creek available

by David Dinell ...

Scientists from the U.S. Geological Survey unveiled a new flood mapping Web site for the Cowskin Creek basin in Wichita.

They made the announcement in a City Hall ceremony also attended by U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt, Wichita Mayor Carlos Mayans and Sedgwick County Commission Chairman Tim Norton.

Mayans said that with the new technology, city and county emergency management personnel, as well as citizens in the basin, will be able to see what areas may
be subject to flooding
